Oggi ho deciso di parlarvi in particolare di una delle mie passioni, i bangle, più comunemente noti come bracciali rigidi.

Ce ne sono di vari tip e materiali ed io li amo tutti ma i miei prediletti sono quelli vintage e di bachelite*. Il loro tintinnare è inconfondibile, i loro colori sono fantastici e a seconda degli accostamenti si possono creare look sempre nuovi. 

Today I decided to talk about one of my passions, bangles.

There are different types of bangles and in various materials and I love them all but, my favorites are vintage and bakelite* ones. Their sound is unmistakable, their colours are fantastic and depending on how you match them you can create a new look every time.

Colei per cui si può dire che la sobrietà è una cosa così sopravvalutata? Ma l'unica, inimitabile Carmen Miranda!

Who is the queen of these bracelets and probabily the cause of my passion? When I was a child I loved her colorful and excessive look. Who is the one for who the sobriety is so overvalued? She's the only, inimitable Carmen Miranda!

La mia collezione è ancora ridotta, anche perchè il mio budget è sempre dannatamente limitato, ma io sono una donna paziente e pian piano si arricchirà.

Qui la mia piccola ma bellissima collezione di bachelite, 6 bangles e una piccola collana che uso come bracciale.

Le due statuine in ceramica usate come portagioie sono Decò, la seconda montata su una scatola che funge anche da punta spille.

 

My collection is still small, because my budget is always damn limited, but I'm a patient woman and slowly it will get richer.

This is my bakelite collection, 9 bangles and a small necklace I use as a bracelet.

The two ceramic statuettes are deco statuettes; the second one is mounted on a box that will also become a pincushon.

Visto che i colori ed il clima estivo sono ancora fra noi, perchè non sfruttare i suggerimenti della mitica Carmen su come si possono abbinare braccia piene di bangles a collane vistose e colorate, magari su abiti o top di ispirazione gipsy in tinta unita come il bianco o il nero?

Questa qui sotto è una delle mie collane preferite: fin da quando la vidi in negozio da Zara me ne innamorai e chi mi segue su instagram la riconoscerà sicuramente. Di solito, infatti, è il mio pezzo forte per uno stile da marinaretta hawaiana.

Since the summer time is still among us, the mythical Carmen shows us that we can combine arms full of bangles and bright and colorful necklaces. We can use them on a black or withe gipsy inspired top or dress.

This is one of my favorite necklaces. Since I saw it in Zara shop I fell in love with it and whoever follows me on instagram will definitely recognize it. It's  usually my strong piece for an Hawaiian sailor style.

Con questo caldo ed umidità i mie capelli sono indomabili e non certo perfetti: ecco perchè nella torrida estate prediligo raccoglierli con un tripudio di fiori finti che "Barbie regina dei fiori scansati".

Oppure foulard e fasce per i capelli (e in questa stagione se ne possono trovare di splendide nei negozi) possono risolvere molti problemi.

Qui sotto una piccola selezione dei miei foulard, io prediligo materiali naturali perchè permettono di non sudare troppo.

Dall'alto in senso orario: quattro foulard vintage in seta; foulard e stola in cotone e seta design by Madama Dea; foulard in seta a stampa orientale, e sciarpe in seta ricavate rispettivamente da un vestito e da un antico kimono.

With this temperature and humidity my hair is indomitable and certainly not perfect: that's why in the summer I prefer to pick them up them with a lot of flowers like Barbie Queen of Flowers.

Otherwise I use scarves and hair bands, they can solve many problems.

Below a small selection of my silk scarves. I prefer natural materials because they allow you to not sweat too much.

Cocò Chanel ci ha sempre ripetuto che "less is more" ma, diciamocelo, spesso la sobrietà è sopravvalutata e se c'è buon gusto e personalità.. perchè non esagerare?

Cocò Chanel always said that: "less is more" but, let's face it, often sobriety is overvalued and if there is good taste and personality .. why not to exaggerate?

* La Bachelite viene considerata la prima materia plastica prodotta; è nata nei primi del '900 ed ha avuto una grande diffusione fino agli anni '50. Nei bijoux era utilizzata per la sua capacità di imitare materiali preziosi come l'ambra, la tartaruga e l'avorio.

Oggi torno con uno dei miei libri di favole preferite.

 

Non ricordo da chi mi è stato regalato perchè avevo circa 4 anni e al momento è passato troppo tempo per la mia memoria. Ma vi posso dire che, più che della storia in sè,  che si svolge fra antichi castelli scozzesi, fate e creature fantastiche, quello che mi ha sempre affascinato di più sono state le illustrazioni di questo piccolo libro.

Quindi, cullati dal racconto: "Il mostro e l'arpa incantatrice" addentriamoci nel magico mondo scozzese.

And here I am with the third episode of the column "The passion is not blind, it is visionary."

I'm back with one of my favorite fairy-tale books.

I don't remember who gave it to me, because I was about four years old and it's too hard for my memory to get back to that moment. But I can tell you that, rather than the story itself, thaking pace among ancient Scottish castles, fairies and fantastic creatures, the illustrations of this small book are the thing that has always fascinated me the most.

So, lulled by the story: "The monster and the enchantress harp" let's take a journey into the magical Scottish world.

Since I can remember in my wardrobe there's always been a tartan thing: dresses, pants, skirts or just for hair ribbons, and this love has never left me. The girl of good family style, the British schoolgirl style then and the country lady style now are one of the rules of my wardrobe, without forgetting the punk and rebellious touch inherited from the culture of the' 80s.

Se vi chiedete il perchè di tutte queste immagini con tripudio di tartan, la risposta è semplice: ho deciso cosa regalarmi a natale assecondando un mio desiderio, ovvero una morbida stola.

Non potendo andare in Scozia, credo che effettuerò la mia ardua scelta presso la Ditta Guenzati di Milano: è, forse, il negozio più antico della città, dal momento che è stato fondato nel 1768 e da allora è sito in via Mercanti 21. A tal riguardo invito tutti a firmare questa petizione o se siete in città di passare direttamente a visitarli e firmarla in loco, per permettere a questo storico negozio di rimanere dove si trova*.

If you are wondering why I put here all that tartan triumph, the answer is simple: I decided what to give me for Christmas: a soft stole.

Not being able to go to Scotland, I think that I shall undertake my difficult choice at the Ditta Guenzati in Milan: this is perhaps the oldest shop in town, since it was founded in 1768 and since then it is placed in via Mercanti 21. In this respect, I invite everyone to sign this petition or, if you are in town, to take a walk to the shop and sign it right there, to allow this historic shop to stay where it is. *

* La ditta Guenzati rischia lo sfratto per logiche di mercato, quindi aiutate un luogo storico della città a rimanere come testimone del tempo.

La tradizione vuole che il negozio venga ceduto ai commessi più meritevoli, aiutateci a mantenerla viva.

Autumn is coming: pins and brooches for the season

Salve a tutti, l'autunno alla fine è giunto ed io mi sono risolta finalmente a scrivere un post. L’argomento? Ovviamente l'autunno ed i suoi colori! 

Il caldo ci sta lasciando, ma non disperiamo: finalmente potremo goderci bevande calde, accoglienti pomeriggi sul divano avvolte in morbide coperte, buone letture e avvincenti serie tv. 

L'autunno è anche il periodo dove i colori diventano più scuri e più caldi, dove tiriamo fuori i maglioni e le giacche dall'armadio, le sciarpe e i cappelli per proteggerci dai primi freddi e dalle prime goccioline di pioggia. 

 Hello, autumn has come eventually, and I've finally made up my mind to write a post. The topic? Obviously the autumn and its colors! 

The hot weather is leaving, but don't despair: at last we can enjoy hot drinks, warm afternoons on the couch wrapped in soft blankets, have a good read and watch exciting TV-series. 

Autumn is also the time when colors become darker and warmer, when we pull out sweaters and jackets from the wardrobe, scarves and hats to protect us from the cold weather and there are the first rain droplets.

 E quindi eccomi qui a parlare di una delle mie passioni, le spille. 

Ai giorni nostri sono piccoli accessori trascurati e sottovalutate e, forse, a molte di voi fanno pensare alle vostre nonne, ma in realtà esse sono un meraviglioso capo di abbigliamento. 

Sì, esatto, lo paragono ad un perfetto capo spalla perché esse possono rendere una giacca o un abito completamente differente da un giorno all'altro. 

Potrei parlarne per ore e potrei passare ore a cercare affascinata il prossimo pezzo per la mia piccola collezione, quindi oggi ci focalizzeremo su spille a tema autunnale.

Nowadays they are a small and usually neglected, undervalued item and, perhaps, many of you think about your grandmothers, but in reality they're a wonderful piece of clothing. 

Yes, exactly, I compere them to outerwear because they can make a jacket or a dress completely different from day to day. 

I could talk for hours about them and I could spend many hours trying to find the next piece for my small collection, so today we'll focus on autumn-themed brooches. 

So make yourself comfortable and let’s begin!

Per chi sa dove guardare c'è davvero l'imbarazzo della scelta. Metallo, smalto, bakelite, lucite, plastica, legno, ce n'è per tutti i gusti e per tutte le tasche. Il vero problema è cosa scegliere. 

Iniziamo con il soggetto che fin da bambini ci affascina di più dell'autunno e che riesce a far diventare questo periodo dell'anno così ricco di colori: le foglie.

I'm ready to answer to this question in one of the ways that I prefer, using images that are often much more comprehensive than words. In this case, they are stunning fashion images and pictures of the golden age divas. 

Let's start with how to embellish jackets. To show you how to do it I'll use two style icons of European high nobility, perhaps making a little blasphemy:
