Come ben sanno coloro che mi conoscono, L' Art Nouveau è una delle mie passioni dominanti.

Come non amare lo stile floreale, con i suoi racemi e fiori, piegati a costruire forme di delicata ed intricata bellezza decorativa?

Così quando ho visto quest'abito di Lindy Bop non ho saputo resistere!

La stoffa ricorda sia i bellissimi disegni per tappezzerie e tessuti d'arredamento disegnati da William Morris che quelli creati da Mucha presenti nei nei Documents Décoratifs.

Come potete vedere, Lindy Bop ha creato tre splendidi modelli di chiara ispirazione Art  Nouveau e Art and Craft. Al momento non sono più disponibili sul sito ma, potete trovarli su ebay.

Se trovate che per voi l'abito è troppo impegnativo si può trovare una gonna a ruota con un altrettanto bella fantasia.

As my friends know very well, L 'Art Nouveau is one of my ruling passions.

How not to love the floral style, with its racemes and flowers bend to build forms of delicate and intricate decorative beauty?

So when I saw this Lindy Bop dress I could not resist!

Itsbpattern reminded me the beautiful designs for tapestries and upholstery fabrics designed by William Morris and those created by Mucha for the Documents Decoratifs.

As you can see Lindy Bop has created three beautiful models clearly inspired by Art Nouveau and Art and Craft. At the moment they're no longer available on the site but you can find them on ebay.

If you find that the dress is too much for you, there is a beautiful skirt with very similar and beautiful pattern.

Avendo i capelli lunghi, ultimamente molto lunghi per il mio standard, spesso mi ritrovo a tenerli raccolti, un po' per praticità un po' per necessità.

Siccome non c'è nulla di più noioso di capelli tristemente raccolti sulla nuca - problema in cui spesso incappo, lo confesso - molte volte cerco di adornare un po' le mie acconciature. Oltre ai fiori, uno dei miei accessori preferiti sono gli hair combs.

Fin dai tempi più antichi le donne amavano ornarsi i capelli in vario modo: nastri, fiori e accessori metallici e luccicanti. Uno dei periodi più felici per questo tipo di ornamenti è stata l'età Edoardiana. L'uso delle nuove materie plastiche diede vita ad ornamenti estrosi e ricoperti di cristalli colorati che molte donne poterono finalmente permettersi.

As I have long hair, lately very long for my standards, I often find myself tying it up,  a bit for practical reasons, a bit for necessity.

Because there is nothing more boring than sadly tied back hair - a problem I often run into, I confess - many times I try to adorn my hairstyles. In addition to flowers, one of my favorite accessories are the hair combs.

Since the oldest time, women loved to adorn their hair in various ways: ribbons, flowers and metallic and glittering accessories, often very precious. One of the most happy periods for this type of ornaments was the Edwardian age. The use of new plastic materials gave birth to fanciful and covered with colored crystal ornaments that many women could afford.

Tutti quelli che mi conoscono sanno quanto io ami il Natale: potrei rasentare il fanatismo? No, credo di non essere a quei livelli.

Però amo giocare un po' d'anticipo per la ricerca del regalo natalizio perfetto per le persone che amo, quindi oggi ho deciso di redigere una piccola guida con alcune idee per fare o, perchè no, farvi un regalo a tema retrò.

Cominciamo con un grande classico per la donna elegante, le spille.

Con l'arrivo dell'inverno cosa c'è di meglio che ravvivare ed impreziosire un cappotto con questi spesso sottovalutati bijoux? E sotto natale perchè non sfoggiarli a tema?

Qui sotto una piccola selezione da eBay*; i prezzi sono molto variabili, vanno da una decina di euro alle centinai, a seconda della fattura e dell'antichità del pezzo.

Vi è mai capitato di non trovare i guanti in quelle che sono le vostre personalissime borse da Mary Poppins? Ebbene esiste un piccolo oggettino che risolverà questo problema e che vi pemetterà di poter riporre i vostri guanti anche nelle borse più piccole: il portaguanti.

Ne esistono in pelle, a clip o a pinza. *** Il prezzo è molto contenuto ma, come per le precedenti proposte, quello che potrebbe incidere maggiormente è la spedizione dell'oggetto.

A questo punto, perchè non parlare di un classico regalo di natale? I guanti.

Io li trovo un accessorio assolutamente indispensabile per la stagione invernale. Ci sono vere e proprie boutique che si occupano solo di quest'intramontabile accessorio, come Piumelli Milano e Sermoneta, per non parlare di botteghe artigiane che si possono trovare in moltissime città italiane. Ad esempio: potete optare per un paio di guanti in nappa lunghi, che vi proteggeranno dal freddo soprattutto se avete scelto un cappottino a maniche 3/4 oppure per dei guanti vezzosi di un rosso natalizio con fiocco. Entrambi in nappa, i primi foderati in seta, i secondi in cashmere, tutto Sermoneta Gloves (117€ e 99€).

Se cercate qualcosa di molto originale: manicotto in nappa foderato di seta, lungo fin sotto al gomito (120€) e guanto lungo fin sotto al gomito in cashmere (70€), tutto Sermoneta Gloves.

At this point, we should talk about a classic Christmas gift, aka gloves.

They are an absolutely essential accessory for the winter season. Piumelli Milan and Sermoneta Gloves are really interesting boutiques that sell this evergreen accessories.

For example: you can choose a pair of long leather gloves, that will protect you from the cold, especially if you're wearing a 3/4 sleeve coat or whimsical gloves in Christmas red with a ribbon. 

Both are made in the nappa leather but the first one are lined in silk, the second one in cashmere (Sermoneta Gloves - € 117 and € 99). If you are looking for a very original gift: long fingerless silk lined and 100% cashmere elbow length gloves (Sermoneta Gloves - 120€ and 70€)

Questi invece fanno parte della collezione di Frollein von Sofa: sono decisamente più costosi ma ne valgono sicuramente la pena.

This is the Evelyne Aymon collection: if you can visit their shop in Città Alta in Bergamo you can find other wonderful creations and, if you've a little Princess at home, you can find little fascinators for her as well. They have creations for all budgets, but in general they are not really expansive.

These are part of the Frollein von Sofa collection, they're more expensive but definitely worth the price. I invite you to visit her site and see all the wonderful creations for the winter season.

Le vostre amiche hanno capelli lunghi e amano raccoglierli?

Allora perchè non optare per degli hair comb d'epoca? Cercate su Etsy o eBay****, ne troverete di moltissimi prezzi e di diverse epoche, avrete l'imbarazzo della scelta.

Qui sotto due esempi in cellulosa e strass del periodo decò (che potete trovare presso questo venditore di Etsy): costano una sessantina di euro.

Le meraviglie qui di seguito, invece, le potete trovare presso il venditore Etsy Rapunzelshaircombs. Vi consiglio di sbirciare fra tutti i suoi articoli, non ne ho mai visti di così belli tutti insieme. Alcuni sono davvero molto rari, come la tiara del periodo Regency.

A sinistra un hair comb di epoca vittoriana in metallo sbalzato e pietre semipreziose a tema classico (242€ circa); quello centrale e quello di sinistra, invece, sono del periodo decò a tema egyptian revival (223€ circa per entrambi).

Do your friends have long hair and love to pick them up?

If so, why don't you choose a vintage hair comb? You can look on Etsy or eBay ****. Even for these items, you will find plenty of prices and different periods, you won't know what to choose.

Per finire, perchè non puntare sulla vanità?

Vi segnalo questa splendida marca di cosmetici di lusso, la Besame cosmetics, che sposa i colori e il packaging retrò a formule moderne. Inoltre, sul loro Blog potete trovare interessantissimi tutorial e consigli per il vostro vintage look.

Qui di seguito alcuni esempi dei loro prodotti: portacipria in metallo, disponibile in quattro nuance diverse – Porcelain, Light, Medium e Dark - (46€). Last but not least, vanity.

I suggest this beautiful luxury brand, Besame cosmetics, which combines the retrò colors and packaging with modern formulas. Moreover, on their blog you can find interesting tutorials and suggestions for your vintage look.

Here are some examples of their products: compact gold metal powder, it's available in four different shades - Porcelain, Light, Medium and Dark-(46 €). On the site are also available the refills of each of these tones (17 €). Some lipsticks in different shades of red: every nuance is named as a decade and represents the iconic color of the period (€ 30)

As for the lipsticks, even their fragrances are named after a decade. Unfortunately they are not available on the European store but you can buy them on the US store, or, if you're planning a trip in the USA, in their stores.
